The Medicare Annual Enrollment Period – AEP for short – is a set time each year for changing your Medicare coverage choices if you choose to.  AEP runs from October 15 to December 7.  Any new coverage choices go into effect on January 1.

 

The specific actions you can take during AEP depend on your current coverage but can include:

✅Change from Original Medicare (Part A and Part B) to a Medicare Advantage plan

✅Change from an Advantage plan back to Original Medicare

✅Switch to a different Advantage plan

✅Switch from an Advantage plan that includes prescription drug coverage to one that does not

✅Switch from an Advantage plan that doesn’t include prescription drug coverage to one that does

✅Join, switch, or drop a Part D prescription drug plan
